Community listening sessions over the past two years have emphasized the need for more outdoor activities and events to complement the Dance Palace’s indoor Church Space and Main Hall. In order to accomplish this, the Dance Palace has sought grants and other funding to improve its outdoor facilities and landscaping.
More recent community feedback has focused on plans to redo the aging basketball half-court to a multi-sport court of roughly the same size. A community wide survey soliciting people’s interests showed community support for accommodating multiple sports in order of stated preference: 1. Pickleball 2. Basketball 3. Badminton 4. Volleyball, and 5. Four Square. While pickleball was the first choice, seven survey respondents commented against pickleball, while a slightly greater number offered comments in favor of an open-to-all court for pickleball in Point Reyes. We encourage the local community to continue sharing their thoughts on plans to improve the Dance Palace’s outdoor space.
