Join Christine Cordaro as she shares about her experience of art as an exploration during her virtual art reception. This online event, organized by the Dance Palace Art Committee, will feature a conversation with the artist discussing several pieces, followed by a Q&A session.
Christine has few pre-conceptions and feels free to experiment with surfaces and media. She works almost exclusively in pastels incorporating acrylic and watercolors as under paintings, then using a wide variety of soft and hard pastels to render an image. She particularly loves working with bright white sanded papers which she tones with washes of acrylic or watercolor to create striking landscape paintings.
Christine did not even begin to doodle, draw, or paint until she was in her late 50’s. Having spent the majority of her life as a “left-brained” person, the shift to the more creative “right-brained” sight was a profound revelation in so many ways. She began to observe the world around her more closely, paying attention to color, mood, subtle shifts in seasons and in the quality of light. So, Christine’s art is “the result of experimentation and serendipity, like much of life!”
