Ruth Lopez has been teaching children aikido for many years and is now offering an introductory adult aikido course that will explore aikido techniques, aikido principles, and the aikido perspective. There are numerous martial arts available to anyone interested in self defense. What happens though, when an attacker is someone you know and love, but is perhaps experiencing a break with reality? You’d still need to protect yourself, but you’d also want to protect the attacker and bring them back to their senses. That is the aikido perspective, and it is what makes aikido different from other martial arts. The aikido perspective on conflict improves our relationships (to self and others) in so many amazing ways that it is the primary reason people keep training for years and years. You’ll find it useful even if you never need to protect yourself from an attacker! Come explore it for yourself. Thursday evenings from 6pm to 7:30, in the church space of the Dance Palace. The session will start on Thursday Sept 19 and run through November 21st, with no class on 10/10 or 11/14. The fee for this 8 week session is $100. Open to all levels of experience, and open to teens as well as adults.
