Step Into The Moment!
A day-long introduction to Action Theater—“improvisation of presence”
Taught by Claire Peaslee
Action Theater invites us to “lively up” our embodied selves … and discover what’s always brewing, moment-to-moment, in our imagination.
What will it feel like to be physically present in every part of your body, from your eyebrows to your tail bone to the ball of your left foot? To join a flock of other humans, flowing in an energy field? Liberate your voice from “normal” ways of speaking; inhabit a full range of shapes and rhythms; remain active inside a pause?
This is not your ordinary improv! No set-up, no shtick, no role-playing or clowning. Instead, all that you can imagine. This daylong workshop will be a chance for us to play, open our senses, and discover what’s marvelous in each moment. Come and explore the realm of possibility and sensations. And have fun!
Claire Peaslee is a certified teacher of Action Theater who has studied with this form’s originator, Ruth Zaporah, for 20 years. Claire also performs Action Theater improvisation in West Marin and beyond.
