We Are Monsters is a hilarious new musical that follows human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster characters. The adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n’ roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters than meets the eye! Most importantly these monsters and kids discover the importance of friendship and celebrating in the attributes that make each of us different and unique.

Point Reyes Books presents renowned poets Kay Ryan and Jane Hirshfield in an afternoon of conversation and reading. This is a benefit for the West Marin Review, an award-winning literary and arts journal featuring art and poetry by local school children alongside the work of accomplished writers and artists from near and far. A casual Sunday Supper with the poets follows at a private residence. Sunday Supper seating is limited and advance tickets are required.

Kay Ryan, of Fairfax, is a MacArthur fellow, and the winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for poetry. She was U.S. Poet Laureate from 2008 to 2010. For 30 years she also taught remedial English at the College of Marin. Jane Hirshfield has taught at UC Berkeley, Duke University, Bennington College, and elsewhere, and is a favorite at writers’ conferences and literary festivals in this country and abroad.

The 9th Annual Dance Palace Duck Derby is Sunday, October 12, from 11 AM–1 PM at White House Pool.
Tickets are available throughout the summer  until October 11th at the Farmers’ Market and the Dance Palace office, tickets will also be sold at White House Pool the day of the race. An evening of love songs and passionate music from Portugal, Spain and Brazil

 Jed Barahal, cellist and Christina Margotto, pianist, long-time favorites at the Dance Palace, will be back in West Marin. Known for their sold-out recitals, this time they will be joined by Ana Barros, the young Portuguese soprano versatile in fado as well as opera and classical song. Featuring works of inspirational modern Portuguese composers along with Jed's live commentary to set just the right tone, this recital promises to be a memorable musical experience.

The Dance Palace Community Awards Banquet is the first event to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the greater good of our community. Honoring two local heroes Chris Giacomini, community leader and owner of Toby’s Feed Barn and Ann Emanuels, Dance Palace Board President (2012-2016) and volunteer for their extraordinary service and leadership. This promises to be a festive evening with a reception and catered dinner followed by entertainment, a live auction and the awards ceremony. Please join us for this evening of celebration. The Community Awards Banquet is hosted by and benefits the Dance Palace Community and Cultural Center.
