Djuna Mascall, senior teacher

Create positive health changes in your life with the guidance of two experienced teachers. Revive your health and your spirit by dedicating a full day to yoga, meditation, and nature. This daylong is sure to boost your creativity and immunity, and re-connect you to your soul.

Our day begins with meditation, breath and an energizing all-levels asana practice. At noon we will have lunch outdoors, then enjoy a walk on a nearby trail to soak in the healing qualities of nature. To end our gorgeous day, we will relax into a restorative practice with an extended savasana to integrate and restore health in our body and calm in our mind.

Trombonist Frank Jensen started the Albany Jazz Big Band over ten years ago as a class at the Albany Adult School. When he retired in 2006, Richard Kalman as instructor and vocal director, and saxophonist Bob Levenson as conductor and musical director,
assumed leadership of the band with Bernard Knapp as librarian. The band strives to keep alive the great traditions of classic to modern Big Band jazz music. The current repertoire includes vibrant swing selections from the books of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and others; Latin, fusion, and funk by Arturo Sandoval, Victor Lopez, Lee Morgan, and the modern sounds of Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock. The band has many fine instrumentalists and features wonderful
vocal soloists. The Albany Jazz Band performs at community and holiday events, fundraisers, ballroom dances andclub concerts all over the Bay Area.
